BLAST OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We wanted to make a real statement as we departed.  How do you like our new wheels?
Well, sadly it wasn't this impressive at all.  We made it to mass at St. Francis de Sales Oratory and after receiving a blessing from our dear rector, we were off again.   We then proceed to cross over the river and meet up with Ben Dover and his lovely wife, Eileen Dover (they had one of my traveling companions).

"Ben is not an alien, but, it does sound suspicious."
  • I would like to add a note here to thank dear Ben for being the very first person to comment on our blog.  Ben will be receiving a prize in the mail soon.  Really, we will be rewarding our followers with random useless tidbits we find.  Ben, we thought you might be aliens trying to lure us into a trap.  So we called up our little green friend to ask if there had been any alien abduction plots lately.  You've been cleared.  Now Eileen on the other hand, well the verdict is still out.
On to the rest of the first day story.  So, we stopped at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Kansas City, MO (another one of the Institute of Christ the King's magnificent churches).

Everybody knows what happens after Kansas City if you are heading west:  KANSAS!!!!!!

The first part of Kansas wasn't too bad.  Actually, slightly enjoyable because the speed limit increased considerablely (someone very awesome had told us it would).  Then, we hit road construction.  Construction areas wouldn't be so bad if people would politely merge and wait their turn.  More on these drivers later.

As we continued to speed through Kansas, we vowed we were not stopping for ANYTHING.  We passed interesting museums and the school where the Brown vs. the Board of Education case occurred.  Nope not stopping!

AND THEN WHAT COULD MAKE US STOP?

Well, you'll have to wait just a bit while we process our information.  It will be posted a bit later today.  Any guesses?

As the evening continued, we were amused by fun emails and texting.  Thank you!  Thank you!

Hey Ganey girls, it is a good thing we didn't travel in our first choice of vehicles.  The driving rain would have made us pull out our super duper umberellas.  The blowing wind that accompanied the rain would have lifted us up like Mary Poppins and we, too, would have landed in OZ and have a story like Dorthy's.  Not good.  We would like to thank you for talking us through the tumbleweed attack:  hundreds of 'em there were!  I had to laugh because instead of seeing dead armadillos on the side of the road (now regularly in MO), they were replaced by Kanas Road Kill:  smashed tumbleweeds.

Not even small animals want to live around there!

  1. Wow. I wouldn't have been able to pass the Brown vs. Board of Ed school. If you didn't stop there, then I can think of only one other situation that would have caused you to stop: someone along side the road needed assistance, and you decided to help that person. Perhaps it was a traveling crew such as yours who needed help, say, changing a tire. Or maybe they had already changed their tire, but the donut tire they used blew out before they could drive it to a repair shop. That's all I've got. Other ideas, anyone?
