Trivia from Day 3

Okay, we have a couple pieces of trivia that we learned from our travels that day.

At the Florissant Fossil Beds, porcupines can be found.  If you wanted to see one, where would you have to look?

What are four different names for a mountain lion?

What is the elevation for the timberline and subalpine line on a mountain?  Actually seeing it while we were going up the mountain was really interesting.

Hint on those names: Two begin with C and two begin with P

You are correct on those porcupines. Only the are found at the very, very tops of pine trees! I DID NOT know that but Luke did!

  5. Puma, Panther, Cougar and according to Wikipedia, catamount, although we've always called them mountain lions, but they're also known as wildcats.
I didn't know that about the porcupines, though.
